In the submitted work, we present the results of a thermodynamic optimization of the Ce–Au system using a selected experimental data from literature and appropriate thermodynamic models to describe each phase of the studied system.

The thermodynamic parameters involved in the models are optimized using the PARROT module of the Thermo–Calc software and confronted to the available data in the literature.

In this work, the excess Gibbs energies functions of the Ce–Au solution phases including liquid, fcc, bcc, and hcp were formulated with Redlich–Kister polynomial functions.

The two–sublattice energy model was employed to describe the intermetallic compound CeAu which exhibit a homogeneity range, while all the intermetallic compounds Ce2Au, Ce9Au11, CeAu2, Ce14Au51, and CeAu6 were treated as stoichiometric compounds.

A set of self–consistent thermodynamic parameters formulating the Gibbs energies of Ce–Au phases were finally obtained.

More recently, a new version of Ce–Au phase diagram was published by Okamoto.

In this version the Ce3Au4 compound was reported by a dashed line, because no evidence of this phase was shown in the investigation of an isothermal section of Ce–Sn–Au ternary.
