The belief in one being possessed by evil spirit ofany sort is a universal andcontroversial issue among all believers of allrevealed religions, Muslims and their Scholarsinclusive.
The controversy is more serious withordinary Muslims, particularly those ofweak faith in Islamic tenets.
What is unambiguous andnon-controversial is that for aMuslim to be considered faithful (Mu’min) he mustbelieve in the unseen (Q.2:3).
Inaddition to that, is the principle of believing inthe concept of predestination (Qadar) i.e.that what begets man either good or bad is from non,but the creator – Allah.
Consideringthe combination of the theory of belief and realityof our life, the whole issue becomesconfused particularly for a layman. However, Adam Sirajudeen’s contribution to solvingthis problem, entitled TheReality of Demonic Possession in the Light of theQur’an and Sunnah, is a cleardemonstration of his ability to delve into such athorny subject.
The treatise is a simpleexplanation of the complex subject with admirablelucidity..
