This lab manual has been prepared for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based detection of genetically modified raw and processed foods.
The method of DNA isolation and PCR are based on currently validated tests used in different countries of the world.
The manual is limited only to the qualitative detection of genetically modified material in susceptible samples and is consists of four parts: 1) the sampling scheme 2) isolation of DNA 3) polymerase chain reaction amplification, and 4) visualization of the results using agarose gel electrophoresis.
Demisse Dakone has obtained his MSc degree in biotechnology from Arba Minch University, Ethiopia.
Since then, he has been working at Ethiopia Environment and Forest Research Center (CEE-FRC) in the department of plant biotechnology.
He has different articles published in many international Journals.
