The research focuses on the effects of the private electricity generators on household activities of family members which includes the men, women, and children living in single and multiple households of Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos.
The research was conducted as a result of the persistent power outage in Nigeria and the increase in the use of the electricity generators to augment the power supply.
The generator has been documented to as having environmental, social, health and economic impacts, thus there is a need to know the influence of these generators at the household level which demands more electricity than other sectors.
The research was carried out using the survey method and conveniently administering 82 questionnaires to the single and multiple households.
Single households are characterized by a single family living in a household dwelling such as flats and duplexes, while the multiple households have multiple families living in the same household dwelling and sharing a common toilet, bathroom and kitchen.
