Usman is an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Nigeria Defence Academy where he did his Doctoral Degree.
Prior to joining the academics he worked in a number of Nigerian banks and retired in 2002.
He later joined Kaduna State University as pioneer staff of the Department of Economics.where he is currently a Senior Lecturer
