This manual was written by a psychologist who lost her husband through suicide.
It was written to serve as a guideline for those who have lost a loved one through a successful suicide.
Possible causes of suicide is investigated.
The complexity of the grief process is explained and why it is being investigated as "Persistent complex bereavement disorder".
The stages of grief after suicide are explained including symptom lists of depression and post traumatic stress, as well as a questionnaire to measure depression.
Tips are given on what to expect as well as a list of myths and facts about suicide. Finally the rights of a survivor are given, as you as a survivor did not deserve this trauma.
The idea of this manual is to equip survivors to deal with this extreme trauma and help them to understand what they are going through and give tips on what to expect and how to deal with it, and also to encourage them.
I am a registered psychologist since 1991 and in private practice since 1995.
I have lost my husband in 2011 due to suicide and was left to take care of my two boys who are now 21 and 17.
I have learned too much out of my own experience and felt a need to encourage others.
I have special interests in grief, trauma, depression and relationship work.
