School administration has over time been dedicated to: • Recruitment, motivating and developing personnel required by the organization • Helping in creating a healthy working climate and appropriate organizational structure to promote maximum commitment and effort • Ensuring that the abilities and skills possessed by people are used to the optimum in pursuance of school organizational objectives • Ensuring the organization complies with its legal, social and moral obligations both to employees and to others (including the general public) affected by the organization’s activities.
• Establishing the need for personnel, recruitment and selection, inducting, maintaining and supervising personnel.
The author is serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, University of Nairobi.
Previously he served as Registrar, Administration at the University and as a teacher educator in Kaimosi Teachers College and the former Kenya Science Teachers College.
