To ensure its growth or survival, a microorganism must find in its environment what it needs to satisfy its nutritional needs: energy, carbon, nitrogen, etc.These elements must be provided in an environment where favorable physicochemical conditions prevail (temperature, pH, osmotic pressure, etc.).
These will undergo various metabolic reactions by the microorganism to ensure its functioning.Bacterial metabolism is the set of biochemical and physiological reactions taking place within the bacteria.All biochemical reactions involved in a living organism = Anabolism + catabolism.The book is structured in eight chapters, the first of which is devoted to a general presentation of the energy metabolism of microorganisms.
The next six chapters deal with the different metabolic pathways specific to each category of nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and other organic compounds), while the last chapters deal with the synthesis pathways and the main laboratory tests used to demonstrate the different metabolic properties.

He holds a doctorate in microbiology from the University of Mostaganem - Algeria.
He is a teacher-researcher at the University of Saida and a member of the research team on microorganisms and their bioactive metabolites.
