With the rapid advancement of 3D object capture instruments and computing power, there are an increasing number of 3D objects in various fields, such as medical simulation, computer vision, computer-aided design, computer graphics and architectural design.
In contrast to classification and retrieval based on 2D data, classification and retrieval based on 3D information is a progressively viable and sensible task.This book examines the issues and concepts that are often associated with content-based 3D object classification and retrieval.
It also includes our contributions to the field.
In fact, we focused on classification and search approaches based on partial matching, representing the shape using the 2D cross-sectional images extracted from the 3D object, and machine learning.
Ilyass OUAZZANI TAYBI has a PhD in computer science and artificial intelligence.
He is a member of the Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering Sciences laboratory, Hassan1er Settat University, Morocco.
His research interests include 3D object recognition, database mining and analysis, and machine learning.
