After completing his studies, Johann-Albrecht Meylahn worked in an inner-city community that focused on social transformation.

He is currently a full- time pastor of a multicultural Lutheran congregation in the heart of the city, Pretoria (Tshwane), and a part-time lecturer at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
